Daily Prompt: Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013? Is that where you’d wanted to be?
As 2012 turned into 2013, I was out on Capitol Hill in Seattle with my friend and a couple of other people dancing and drinking and just having a good time. It was a lot of fun and nowhere during the entire time did I really think to myself that I would rather be somewhere else. Well, no more than usual. I always think that I would love to be at a place where I had all my friends from all over in one place together, just hanging out and enjoying ourselves. That’s almost impossible given that my closest friends live in North Carolina while I’m out here in Seattle, but it’s a nice thought & I know it will happen one day.
But it speaks to a bigger issue of balance for me. Finding a balance between not just my work life and personal life but a balance between my friends. One of my major resolutions (not really a New Year’s resolution because I made this in December) is to be better at balancing my friendships with my team who I work with on a daily basis, my housemates who I live with and then all my friends back at home who I stay in touch with. But at that exact moment, as the clock struck midnight, I was fairly happy with where I was and who I spent the night with. It was a great night.
